Position Responsibilities
  • Research and monitor selected business and investment sector issues, including government policies, legislative and regulatory developments, industry developments, security developments, consumer trends and issues, business and investment opportunities.
  • Analyze and interpret the corporate, business, policy, and political implications of specific government regulations, policies, and laws at the national, district, and city levels.
  • Provide well-written, succinct, and actionable reports and presentations of research and information to clients.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to build networks and relationships with bureaucrats, regulators, other public officials, parliament members, the business community, media, civil society organizations, and consumer groups.
  • Provide information and analysis on selected politicians, bureaucrats, regulators, companies, business people, and other relevant actors.
  • Provide advice and assistance in developing and implementing government relations, media, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, and other strategies.
  • Represent G3 Group and clients at meetings with stakeholders.
  • Provide other assistance and services as requested by the Managing Director.
Job Requirements

We seek a collegial, highly motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of teams, anticipate client and company needs, and be part of a high-performing national, regional, and UK-based network of staff and consultants. An appreciation of the key role of the private sector in generating jobs and accelerating development in Malaysia is essential. A keen understanding of Malaysia’s political and regulatory environment and how to navigate it on behalf of clients is required.

Note: This position can be executed remotely, is non-full-time, and reports to the Managing Director and/or Senior Director (Asia).

Qualifications:

  • A keen understanding of Malaysia’s political and regulatory environment and how to navigate it on behalf of clients is required.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in government affairs, or public policy is preferable.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in native-level English and Bahasa Melayu are required. Knowledge of other Asian-Pacific languages is a plus.
  • The ability to engage confidently and thoughtfully with corporate government affairs representatives, Malaysian and foreign government officials, civil society, and the media is required. Aptitude for public speaking and project presentations is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and an ability to learn and adopt new technologies is required. Proficiency in Slack, Lark, or it’s equivalent.
  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree, master’s degree is preferred.
  • Must be currently based in Malaysia.
